1 What is the purpose of the Sports Training Center for Persons with Disabilities?

The center provides year-round centralized training for people with disabilities, conducts educational, training and sports events. Organization and conduct of sports events among persons with disabilities according to the calendar plan of sports events.


2 What summer Paralympic sports are available at the Center?
The center covers summer Paralympic sports such as archery, sitting volleyball, table tennis, archery, equestrianism, canoeing, powerlifting, judo, goalball, athletics, taekwondo, swimming, cycling and 5x5 football.


3 What winter Paralympic sports are available at the Centre?
The center covers winter Paralympic sports like curling, cross-country skiing and biathlon.


4 What summer Deaflympic sports are available at the Center?
The center covers 16 summer Deaflympic sports: arm wrestling, judo, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, karate, taekwondo, checkers, futsal, football, athletics, swimming, table tennis, badminton, orienteering, handball and shooting.


5 What winter Deaflympic sports are available at the Center?
The center covers 5 winter Deaflympic sports: chess, cross-country skiing and biathlon, hockey, snowboarding and curling.


6 What non-Paralympic sports are available at the Centre?
The center covers 8 non-Paralympic sports: wheelchair dancing, arm wrestling, checkers, chess, togyzkumalak, beach volleyball, karate, standing volleyball.


7 What achievements are required to be on the national team?
The head coach, based on the results of performance at international and republican sports competitions of the previous year (in the sport), in agreement with the accredited republican and (or) regional sports federation and based on the results of the meeting of the coaching council, selects candidates for the regular national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the sport. That is, the numerical composition of the regular national teams of the Republic of Kazakhstan in sports (regular national teams in sports) is determined based on the results of the performance of members of the national teams at international and republican sports competitions and the ranking of sports.

9 How is the process of training athletes carried out?
Training of disabled athletes is carried out year-round, but no more than 250 days per year per disabled athlete in accordance with promising training programs for disabled athletes.


10 How can I enroll in the Center?
The Center enrolls: 1) disabled athletes of youth, junior, youth and adult ages, disabled athletes in sports in the Centers and who are winners and prize-winners of championships of the Republic of Kazakhstan or international competitions, as well as disabled athletes included in the national teams of the Republic of Kazakhstan in sports; 2) disabled athletes in team sports who are members of youth, junior, youth and adult national teams of the Republic of Kazakhstan.


11 In which sports do the largest number of athletes compete?
The center has more than 1,200 athletes, of which more than 600 are involved in Paralympic sports.


12 In what cases can an athlete be expelled from the Center?
An athlete is expelled from the Center on the following grounds: 1) a decrease in sports results in accordance with an individual plan, in terms of winning medals and places in competitions; 2) for health reasons based on a medical report; 3) use of prohibited substances and prohibited methods; 4) violation of the Center’s labor regulations.
